There’s nothing more delightful than teaching young children about the colourful, tasty world of fruits!
This week in our preschool class, we’ve been diving into a fun and fruity theme that has brought so much excitement, giggles, and learning to our days.
Preschoolers are naturally curious about the world around them—especially when it involves food!
Learning the names of fruits helps build vocabulary, encourages healthy eating habits, and creates wonderful opportunities for sensory play and conversation.
What We’re Learning
Here’s what we’re exploring in our fruit unit:
- Naming Fruits: From apples to bananas to kiwi, we’re learning to name common fruits using songs, stories, and visual aids.
- Fruit Colours & Shapes: Children are noticing that some fruits are round, some are long, and they come in all sorts of bright colours!
- Tasting & Talking: We’ve tried fruit tastings (with parental consent!) and talked about what we like, what’s sweet, and what’s sour.
- Fruit Art & Craft: We’re painting with fruit shapes, making fruit salad collages, and even pretending to shop at a fruit market in our dramatic play area.
