What is Eid?
Eid ul Fitr is a special Islamic celebration that marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is a joyful day of gratitude, prayer, and togetherness for Muslims around the world.
On the morning of Eid, families gather for a special congregational prayer, give charity (known as Zakat al-Fitr) to those in need, and then celebrate with festive meals, sweets, and time spent with loved ones. Children often wear new clothes, exchange gifts, and enjoy visiting family and friends.
It is a time to thank Allah for the strength to complete Ramadan and to celebrate with happiness, kindness, and community.
Simple Eid Card Decorating Activity
For this activity, children decorate three simple cards using a free printable included at the end of this post.
Each card includes:
- Simple colour-in Eid words in english and arabic
- Stars and celebration designs, perfect for little hands to decorate
These designs are intentionally simple so preschoolers can feel confident and proud of their work.
How to Use
- Print the cards on regular paper or light card.
- Let children colour freely using crayons, pencils, or markers.
- Optional: add stickers, glitter, or gold pens for extra sparkle.
- Fold and share the cards with family, friends, neighbours, or the community.
There’s no right or wrong way—just let children enjoy the process.
Learning Ideas to Extend the Activity
- Talk about who the card is for.
- Count the stars or name the colours being used.
- Talk about how people greet each other on this festive day.
