Bula Vinaka! (A very warm welcome)
Fijian Language Week is a special time for preschool and school-aged children to explore Fiji’s vibrant culture and language. During this week: 6-12 October, 2024, little ones engage in fun activities.
In preschool, we sing traditional Fijian songs such as “Kana Mada”(available in the FREE activity pack!). They learn simple Fijian words. They listen to stories from Fijian folklore.

This hands-on approach helps them appreciate the rich traditions and customs of Fiji. They might create art inspired by Fijian patterns. They might also taste delicious Fijian foods. This makes the learning experience both educational and enjoyable.
By celebrating Fijian Language Week, preschoolers learn a new language. They also develop a greater understanding and respect for different cultures. It gives children who are from Fiji a sense of acceptance and a sense of belonging.
This early exposure to diverse languages and traditions fosters curiosity and inclusivity. It lays the groundwork for a lifelong appreciation of cultural diversity.
